time is a gatherer
Updated: Dec 15, 2020
As the year 2020 is coming to a close, I am thinking about the concept of time and how much it has ruled over my days. Not just this year, but every year. Phrases like
"I wish I had more time"
"There's never enough time"
"It's time for _____"
"Time flew by today"
etc, etc, etc.
Back in September, after months into being in quarantine, I thought about how I've been spending my time all this time, until this moment. We all have experienced the fragility of life in Covid-19 and I know this is what stirred this realization. I no longer was annoyed at time like I used to. I used to see time as a thief - stealing away moments that never needed to end, to making time stand still in seasons that seemed too long.
No, time was not a stranger. It even wasn't a thief.
It was and is, always, a gatherer of gifts. Gifts meaning memories, feelings, learnings, relationships...etc.
Time is on our side, friends. It's up to us to decide what we want to gather.
